Story
Our Woodland Collection explores our relationship and connection with nature and how we can all live in harmony with it. My inspiration began in the summer I spent dreaming and designing this collection while wandering and running through the ancient wild woodlands and meadows, in Hampstead Heath, in north west London. This is the park that inspired C.S. Lewis to write The Chronicles of Narnia. Much like the story, set in an enchanted wood, where metaphors of distortions of reality and fantasy, of time and consciousness and life as an ever-changing mystery, are ever present like the phases of the moon.
In these surreal times I found myself yearning for a sanctuary and searching for symbolism, echoed in the story of each piece I imagined in untamed wild nature. Tales of courage, transformation, hope, love, peace and freedom. Through the Heath I travel to the backdrop of my childhood in rural Warwickshire. Nostalgic of the seasons spent wild berry picking, meandering through sunflower and strawberry fields, getting lost in the woods, and making grass angels in fields near horses at the back of my family home. Our Woodland Collection invites you to create stories of your own connection with nature and to wear talismans as a reminder that we are one with the natural world. To find hidden gems in her depths, even in the midst of a wild, tangled wood.
RESPONSIBILITY
LOCAL MANUFACTURING
At Gemma Roe, we believe in creating forever pieces. Our Sculpted Tales are carved by hand using an ancient 6000 year old technique called lost waxed carving. Each piece is intricately sculpted from Gemma’s imagination and constructed by her artistic hands into symboliic talismans. They are then cast in fully recycled bronze and plated in 100% recycled gold, and 100% recycled silver in our small, devoted family-run casters in Hatton Garden, having been our partner since the beginning of our story. Each piece is then hand-finished with love and tenderness.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
Our sculpted tales are cast in precious metals of bronze, 100% recycled 925 sterling silver and 100% recycled gold. Using recycled metals helps us to minimise our environmental impact as they carry a lower carbon emissions footprint than mined metals.
Our recycled gold and silver are supplied from Cooksongold who are certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council, the world’s leading standards setting organisation for the jewellery and watch industry and part of the Heimerle + Meule GmbH group. A German company specialising in precious metals and approved by LMBA, the global authority on precious metals, and adhere to their ethical code of conduct.
LOCAL SOURCING
We source our chains and jewellery findings from trusted and responsible suppliers in the heart of Hatton Garden. Every step of our process is driven by people, community, nature and their own tales, from Gemma to our team... and all the way to you. All working together to create a more harmonious world.

FORCE FOR GOOD
At Gemma Roe, we celebrate creativity, hope, dreams, ancient wisdom, freedom, peace, inclusivity, empowerment, family, community, conservation and actions for good. We connect these into everything we create and weave this in to our daily actions. We are rooted in being a force for good for people, wildlife and the planet, always aspiring to grow in this endless journey we are all on.
“Through our foundation, we have a motto inspired by the butterfly, the bee and the rainforest – Courage, Community and Growth, driven by purpose for good. It’s a cycle and a commitment. It’s very close to my heart to be of service for good for the world. Like the metamorphosis of all life and the butterfly and bee pollinating a flourishing flower in the forest, we can plant seeds of hope, create roots for growth, evolve to flourish in harmony with the world around us, and ascend to share our fruits. I believe storytelling has a powerful voice to tell the magic of the natural world and the power of hope can create a new world. Reforesting our minds and hearts with ancient wisdom from the forest and the communities that have lived holistically with the natural world, we can plant seeds for a better future and be the change we want to see in the world.”

Intricate details and textures
Hand-sculpted Jewellery
The story of each piece begins with our founder, Gemma Roe, her imagination, drawing in nature, and wax. She illustrates, and hand carves each sculpture, using an ancient 6000 year old technique called lost wax carving - rooting them in history, art, and heart.
This intricate wax sculpture, is alchemised from wax to bronze, 100% recycled 925 sterling silver and 100% recycled 24kt gold through the enchanting technique of lost-wax casting in Hatton Garden, in the UK’s historic jewellery district in London.
“ I grew up as an artist drawing and painting the natural world around me. It is my dream to create wearable art that symbolises our connection as one with nature.”
Sculpted Tales inspired by nature
The Natural World
“The shared language of nature inspired me to create my own universe to be shared.”
Every piece of jewellery is an echo of Gemma’s love for the natural world. Each piece invites you to create stories of your own connection with nature and to wear talismans as a reminder that we are one with the natural world.
“I wanted to be a voice for the natural world, and to share all the wonders, magic and joy it has given me throughout my life and how we need to protect it.“
- Gemma
